    Wet sanding foglight lenses?

My foglight lenses aren't in the best shape, and I'd like to fix them up since Mr. Lens is a joke now and I won't be getting new lenses. I remember somebody wet sanded their lenses and put something like the 3M stoneguard over the lenses, and they looked brand new (might have been e304lyfe). Has anybody done this, and have any directions or recommendations?

You can clean them well with toothpaste.

        yeah, that was me...

i used a dremel to sand it down. couldn't find an appropriate attachment, so i made one myself. the glass requires a lot of working. the dremel was a little weak for the job. a larger sander would probably be more appropriate.

no matter how hard i tried, i couldn't get the surface clear again (even w/ cerium oxide, which is what glass polishing companies use often). i ended up clear coating the surface, then i applied stone guards. it looks perfect to this day. but in all honesty, it was more work then it was worth.

What if I polished them lightly, clear coat them and apply Lamin-X? Would it be an improvement?

yes, that would work. just clear coating them alone will improve them tremendously. but any sanding or polishing can only help.

What's the stone guard you put on them? Is a spray or similar/same as the lamin-x stuff?

                  It's similar to Lamin-X.
