Just bought '87 325i with missing front valance

I just joined the e30 club on Sat when I picked up this 1987 325i. The engine is in great condition but the rest of the car needs some attention. The first thing on my list, is to find a front valance/air dam - it came as seen here:

I found a pre-88 air dam for sale but am concerned that the foglights pictured here definitely look out of place for a std oem valance. Mine are mounted too close to center. Any ideas what could have fit there? Is my only option the oem valance? The previous owner only had the car for a short time and didn't realize that anything was missing up there.

There is a big rubber lip spoiler that mounts underneath that valance. Those fogs should be bolted to the bumper that's how all the early non Is cars are with fogs.

So you think it looks like a prev owner just mounted up some foglights when he lost the spoiler? Was kinda hoping that maybe these are indicative of some spoiler having been mounted there which I could then find & mount.

if that were my car I wouldn't wast money on the diving board/early valance. either a late valance with plastic bumpers or a euro valance and euro bumpers. you could go with an early is airdamn but they are hard to find in good shape.

nando - good point but want to focus on suspension & performance before cosmetics. Just found an acceptable deal on an old valance which will suit me until I can focus on aero components. It really bugs me not having anything there at all and don't want to get in over my head having to modify something just to cover up the missing body work for now.
