My local small town NAPA is the only one that carries anything remotely high temp in the paint department. They have all sorts of glow-in-the-dark colors, black, light grey, and white. I went to the next nearest NAPA and found what I thought and hoped would be a dark grey. After the first few coats, I'm realizing it has a hint of green when placed next to my black wheels and silver body. Damnit. Maybe I'll see if amazon will sell me spray paint...

I was looking through the powder chip guide and their is a gold clear coat to apply over bare metal or ultra chrome powder. Looks pretty close to gold platting on polished surfaces.

I spent a boat load of time cleaning my calipers up - then went about using electrolysis to get every molecule of oxidation off. Gave 'em two coats of high temp silver..

A year later - without even driving the car - I started seeing an orange oxidation color.

So - before it got worse, I 'painted' the calipers with antiseize and a toothbrush. Came out a nice dull grey color.

I did the best I could, but I think it's hard to keep that iron from rusting..

How long are your guys's paint jobs lasting?

you are absolutely right. It is so hard to get them painted and not get rust in a few months. mine do

Stock calipers painted with Hammerite smooth gold.

This is just a 318i DD, but it looks the same as the day I did it about 2 years ago.
