there appears to be a break in between years for windshield gaskets on cars before and after 1987. However, the part numbers for the windshields itself are the same. anyone care to shed some light as to the changes?

I personally haven't run into this but I heard somewhere the vert ones are larger in diameter then coupe or sedan. Since I will be changing mine I am going to see what happens. :-) I would advise having a can of spray silicon handy to make installation easier.sigpicComment

They are the same I replaced the chrome ones with a black plastic set and it's all the same. They are a pain to replaced, I had to heat them up and it took a while....Comment

On my previous '87, I replaced the chrome locking seal where the lock strip sits with a black rubber seal from a '91 318is. I replaced both front and rear with no issues.Comment

I recently ordered some brand new windshield gaskets, using realOEM set to my car (91 318iS) and they were way, way fucking off. You could push the windshield through with your hand, and there was a gap all the way around. It sucked.
Take that with a grain of saltComment
