Depends how much is the asking price for it, if its right than why not?

I mean, longest a drivetrain is good, and motor is strong, and price is right, than dont let it go off your hands.

Rule #1 in buying a used car: You are not a good judge of body damage.

This is true in collision repair to repainting to rust. Take it to a reputable bodyshop if you have any question. What looks like it could be just around the doorsill could be the surfacing of an entirely rusted subframe.

E30's shouldn't have rust, period. If they do, there are more serious issues underneath.

that looks like a rust bucket to me.. I'd stay far away. There are plenty of rust free E30s around, there's no reason to get stuck with one that is as bad as that car. Most cars on the west coast and the southwest should be rust free.

If it's super cheap and there are lots of good parts, you might pick it up as a parts car.

I was going to buy a truck that had a piece of carpet as a floorpan, lift the carpet, see the ground :P

Rust at the bottom of a door is not a good sign. The bottom of the door could be rusted more then you can tell and will one day ruat all the way thorugh. IMO, any rust is bad. I would not buy a car that has rust damage, even if it is a little.

My best freind bought a 195k miles 91' 318IS in may 02' for $2800 with rust inn the rear fender. I couold stick my hand and wrist insid the hole  None the less he got it all repaired and fuly re-painted this summer @ the same place that restored and fully repainted my car.

He spent too much overall..Don't buy that rusted 89' please. It took my freind $5k+ to get his car back to normal.
