did the grill size vairy by year?
Or was it the same size for all the years\model?

Which grill are you talking about. I can name at least 10 grills on a e30....

the left and right front grill
that surround the headlights

they are the same size for all E30s.. there are small differences between US and Euro grilles, but they are physically all the same size.
