    DB -> Plastic

    I have a 1987 325e, which means I have the notorious "Diving boards." There is a local who is selling the plastic bumpers along with the mounting items. Will this be a direct bolt on? What would I need to do? Also do the valences with DB's work with late model plastic bumpers? Thanks

    The front will be a direct bolt on after you cut the tow hook off. The rear bumper needs to be shortened on the sides to fit and the rear bumper shock holes need to be slotted upwards, so the bumper will sit flush.

      Is the amount of work worth the change?

        In my opinion, yes. I'm doing it on my car. I just think that nothing beats the look of plastic bumpers on early model cars, except for maybe an mtech I or II kit.

          I'm in the parts collecting stage right now and early starting work, I have start tackling the bumper prep. Not too bad a project so far. My issue is trying to get the rusted diving boards off. I think I may just cut the shocks and get em off that way.

            so update. Installed the front plastic bumper. The mounting equipment gets in the way. I have a 1987 325e front valence on, and it seems like thats what is getting in the way. Do I need to get a different front valence so I can use the mounting brackets on the sides? As of now, the bumper shocks are the only thing keeping it on, and the sides are not sitting correctly
