Engine Accessories Clean Up and Shine.

I got my accessories off of my block and I was wondering what tools you use to clean these parts. Looking at power tools, I don't want to spend all day and night, weeks even, trying to get these parts crisp and shiny. If you don't know, then you may know of a past thread that may help.

    Thanks.

Oven cleaner, used it all the time when I was a diesel mech. spray it on, let it sit for a couple minutes, hit it with a bristle brush and spray it off. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Mineral spirits for general degreasing/cleaning. Oven cleaner can work well, but it will oxidize aluminum parts badly and leave an ugly finish. Not to mention that stuff is nasty to get on your skin.

A wire wheel on a bench grinder or in a drill/angle grinder work well as well. Use a brass one on aluminum and use light pressure.
