    Welp, here we go.....

So im sick of my DB's lookin' like poop, so it's time to start polishing. Started this evening. Hoping to get it fully sanded, compounded and polish by late tonight/tomorrow. The top layer is a bitch to get off to get to bare metal (using 80grit).

Ill continue to upload pics as i progress.

I would definately be interested in seeing a sort of how-to on this.

    materials
    prep
    actual process
    etc

Debating on painting mine black to match my car, or to polish.

Starting out with 80grit on the entire bumper then I will go to 220,320,400,600,800,1000,2000. And then wetsand from 600 up.

a couple hours to do 4"?

          1. hire 2 guys from home depot
          or
          2. go to a local metal polishing company
          or
          3. buy a powered sander.

Yeah you're doing it all wrong.... get an angle grinder (you can rent one from Home Depot if you don't have one), get a buffer wheel and some polishing rouge! BAM! You'll have both your bumpers done in half the time it took you to do that little piece!

You can even buy a kit with the buffing wheel and rouge! http://www.amazon.com/Buffing-Polish.../dp/B000OVK23U

...the different colors are like sandpaper grit. Red is a good starter to get the tough stuff and gradually make your way to the white. Shit will polish like magic.

Yes I know. But I got a wild hair up my ass to polish my bumpers and I dont feel like leaving. The only thing thats taking the longest is getting the original finish off down to bare aluminum. Oh well, ill survive.

Are you gonna clear coat them when youre done? I might be interested in doing this in the future, it looks really good!

Are you going to clear them or protect them when you are done so they don't oxidize?

looks like i am going to paint mine black. Knowing me I would start to get tired of doing the same spot and each 4" would have a different finish.
                              lol

                              looks sick though.
