    Convertible Thread Purchase Help Needed

    hi,
my 91 vert has the original top with rips etc.
the plastic is now cracked and split
so i think its time to get a new top
i'm not rich so i have to be a smart buyer
i havent found any good used tops that are worth the cost
so i am looking at a new one
i dont want to get the cheapest material but something like the oem material and look, i think.
i did some searches but what im looking for is some feedback from people that have gotten a top themesleves or maybe work in shop that does them, etc.
i have to figure out alot
like material choices and value of spending more
like installation...do it myself or go to a shop
    like removable window or fixed.
my car is white, interior is black so im going with a black top
any input, or ridicule, is appreciated
you all are my only link to humanity

Taking it somewhere will be VERY expensive so if you cannot find a used one, DIY would be my suggestion. I have 2 GAHH and have heard decent reviews on ebay tops. I would get the best one you can afford since its probably going to be on the car 10-15yrs or more and its a good couple of days of work.

If your seals are shot Id suggest you revisit finding a used one even if it has to be shipped. I paid $280 for a near new black top w/frame and it was a 30 minutes install.

I did not. The white Cabrio came with it and the one on the red car I bought on the frame which again is the better option.

There is an excellent DIY thread somewhere plus the factory 3 part video is on youtube.

Now that I have a spare frame with good seals I'm thinking about how to jig it so I could install a top on it without it being on a car (to learn how and hopefully for fun). I think I saw a post where someone cut the back off a cabrio as a "top stand" which is very cool if you have the space since one of the problems replacing tops is not having a garage or the car being a DD. its ll about the counterweight of course.

I'm trying to get the rear most window seal off of the spare and its a cluster*^%$k so I cant imagine having to do a top swap with ANY pressure whatsoever.
