THE WEWATHER FU@K3D UP MY SHADOWLINE!

OK I did my shadowline last summer, metal etching primer, and 3 coats of paint.

we had a decent snow, then rain, then ice storm at the beginning of the week

i've been sick in bed since monday, so I went to the car today for the first time since sunday

The fucking ice wrecked my shadowline. huge pieces of chrome showing everywhere

it took soo fucking long to do that damn shadowline, I'm so pissed off right now. i can't believe I have to do that bullshit again

Did you thoroughly scuff the chome before painting it with the primer?
If you didnt, it wont stay attached... thus the flaking. :(

        Good luck re-doing it

funny, I didn't use any primer, I did no scuffing, all I did was clean them really good with simple green and paint them with SEM trim black (2 coats) and let them bake in the sun (for a month, between 80-90 degrees, on my car :P ). There are some chips where rocks hit the trim but the paint is still sticking! this is after some very cold temperatures, an ice storm, snow storm, and lots of sand/gravel on the road. I have around 10 new stone chips on my windshield now :(

and just buy the OEM 318 shadowline kit from a dealer.

Yea man, my dad powerwashed my car the other day and my window trim is holding up 10x better than i thought it would, but my door trim got shot to hell. The rubber/chrome strip started to chip off. So i am luckily only having to paint those strips and not the window trim. I used a bumper/trim paint that adhears to metal, plastic and rubber. Its flexible, textured and has done very well on my window trim.
I've had some major ice, snow, salt and rain lately so ive been lucky to have minor problems.
