Euro bumper reinforcement, who has it?

I finally removed the rear bumper off of my euro 325ix and didn't realize there is a reinforcement bar in the euro bumpers. My front euro bumper did not have it when I bought the car.

This is solid steel with two slots for the mounting brackets. It is almost an inch thick in places! I would estimate it is almost 35 or 40 pounds. I talked to my brothers, one has a e23 745i and the other a euro 635csi and both of their cars have some sort of reinforcement too.

On the 745 it is welded in place, but mine I was able to remove. Who else is running the bumper reinforcement? I am planning to remove and scrap, would anybody be interested in it?

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

This was added by companies that made the cars DOT legal when they were imported. Wasn't a factory piece.

Yep. DOT certification requirement. I've bought a few sets, and a full car, one of the sets was with, one without, and the car has one too. I have left it there so far, but I will likely take it out.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm thinking I'll trash it.
