    another bodykit question

who knows a bodykit other than the factory m-tec that fits relatively well and would be interested in them if they were finished and primed for under 500?

or I can replicate the mtecII as a exact replica, which will fir perfectly on 88-01 e30's since the front is only a lower valence, not a complete bumper cover like all the other replicas.

so basically, if I can get a GB together for a kit.. I can suply them for most likely under 500 a set shipped. I just need to know what the interest/demand is. I really want to get into this business, so lemme know...

why not? there are hundreds of body kits for imports that are under 500 that are good quality.

do you even know how much a body kit costs? body kits are only as good as the mold in which they're made. all kits are made in a mold. good mold = good kit. filling up the mold w/ resin and fiberglass is a relatively simple process.

so good company = good mold = good kit. the molding fee is what costs the most, not the kit itself. most companies cover the cost of the molding fee after only 2 or 3 kits, and the rest of the kits they sell they reap massive profits.

I just need a kit that ppl would buy if it was cheaper. I can make the copy, and install it on my car (87 325) or a friend's car (91 318i), and then you'll be able to see how well it fits.

as long as the original fits perfect, so will the replica.

The company I work with does a perfect job on Supra kits, and several ppl I know are sporting replica supra kits and thy fit perfectly.

I just need some kits that ppl are interested in but can't affford.

There's a guy up here (Eurostyle, don't know if you're familiar with) that is doing them out of FB, and they actually fit really well. He also sells the M-Tech2 in 2-pieces for the front, I'm getting just the lower part from him.

His normal price for a full M-Tech2 is $1200 Canadian I believe. If you can deliver it at the price you say, you'd have quite the lineup.

Breyton, AC-S, and Hartge are some nice, expensive, hard to find kits.

            *sigh*

What you spare in price in a bodykit, you will make up in labor to get it to fit right...

not if the original fits perfectly.

if the original fits perfectly, the replica will fit perfectly.

if the original is shitty, then the replica will be shitty.

once again, I'm not buying replicas and selling them... I'm having them made by a company that my friend works with to make his supra kits. and those fit perfectly.

as for the 1200CAN... what's the place called? if it really fits perfectly (I'll have to test-fit first b4 I can feel comfortable replicating it) then I can easily deliver it at ~500 USD

who would be interested in a breyton front and rear? seems like evosport can get them.

hartge... ummm, personally i think it's ugly, and there's some replicas on ebay that don't seem to be selling

anyone interested in an alpina spoiler?

It is good to see that you know so much about "bodykits," but I can assure you that no replica (fibreglass) kit fits even close to the original M-Tech II kit....biggest reason is due to the material it is made from.

Despite the low quality there is still alot of folks that will choose the replica route, so best wishes!

I say go for it. I'm interested if it can be done well for $500 shipped. Just find out what kit is the most popular. If you can do a good job on it, the demand will follow. I suggest the following. Scour the net to find pictures of all the e30 kits you can, then post them on here and take poll on which looks best. Then go make the kit.

Personally, I like something somewhat subtle, but noticeable. Take a look at Jordan's car. A kit with e36 type sideskirts, rear apron, and front like an e30 M3 would be perfect in my opinion. If you can deliver that in a form that will replace/supplant aluminum bumpers and a form that will also work for newer cars, then you're in business.

Having been in this community for well over 3 years now, and knowing exactly what bodykits are out there, unless he scores a great deal on something on ebay, or pulls parts from a wrecker, there is now way he can get something that will fit well for $500 shipped. Hell, I don't think he can get anything that fits shitty for $500. The E30 demand in unfortunately just not that high.

But hell if I'm going to stop him from trying. Good luck.

Basically I think if you can show/prove to people that the kits fit well, then your in business. Just so many crappy peices going around right now. But $500 for an mtecll people will be all over it myself included.

Darien, good luck in your endovors and post a finished product here when you get it done. I don't think to many will buy a fiberglass repro but if they look good and fit well you might corner the market.

Until then let's try to stop the uglyness. Most FG bodykits we have seen are usually of poor fitment quality, I didn't say all cause we will never see all of them. Most of the time the first couple to come from the mold are not bad but the mold gets old and and sloppy so kits break down.

Once again good luck at your benchmark. We are just normally used to having a "Bring Money Withyou" BMW.

Show me the kit on a car and show that its a great fit. Then I will absolutely buy one.

I do need a front M-Tech II bumper (above the valence). Greg?

Just remember there is a bit of difference between supra bodykits and Mtech kits.
