    Brake Duct Blanks

Anybody know of brake duct blanks for late model e30's? I know they have fog light blanks, but I've searched through tons of pictures, and never seen brake duct blanks. I also looked on the ETK, and no luck.

The reason I ask, is I would like to cover up the pipes leading in and out of the intercooler. I no longer have brake ducts, so I no longer need holes.

What do you guys think? I could probably fab up some panels to fit, and paint them this week.

I don't like it all flat looking like that, it makes the fogs look really strange.

I think being able to see the pipes coming out of the IC looks really cool.

also, air going over the pipes may add in cooling. marginally probably, but still...

They do look a little strange. Perhaps not it the blank was still outlined. Try P-shopping a blank with an outline, I think that would look better than completely flat.

I think pipes look badass, but unneccessary. Much more sleeper if they are hidden.

Rob, ? not sure if that is true, if the pipes conduct heat. Maybe, maybe not but something to consider.

My suggestion: tinted plastic. Would help "break up" the flat region and still hide the I/C piping.

What about a dark mesh in front of the pipes?

if they're metal they conduct heat. I just think closing off airflow is the last thing I'd want to do to a turbo system

TJ's suggestion would be good then. Mesh = air gets through. Just be sure it doesn't look rice like the Hondas with mesh. And mayhaps put mess in front of the I/C to have a complete look to it.

Yeah, I was kind of worried about the look that I photoshopped, looked like something was missing.

TJ, I TOTALLY forgot about mesh. Damn, that a badass idea. Anybody know of a place to get some good looking mesh? I would probably paint it flat black or something to that effect.

                thanks guys,

Could you heavily modify the brake ducts and get them to fit around the pipe?

Are you gonna get black mesh or silver mesh? I think the silver mesh might look a little...I dont know, bad. But then again if you have black mesh it may look a little out of place, theres not really any other black down there

That would be sweet, but that would require a shitload of work. I say try that anyways though.

Instead of using mesh, I went with a different design. My friend actually gave me the idea. I used portions of some old kidney grilles to make this grille. I have yet to figure out how to keep them in though.
