    pre facelift euro bumpers?

OK I was looking at an '85 e30 4 door last night down the street from my friends place. it had very small bumpers, i thought they were euro. but it had a usdm girll. anyone know? maybe i'll go back and take pics when the snow clears up.

well anyway, it got me thinking. to solve my damn-diving-boards-are-ugly problem, I want to get a kit. i planned on m tech II, but I don't really want to deal with cutting the bumper and whatnot. I have a lot going on right now both with the car, school, and trying to find a place to live lol.

so couldn't I just get a euro bumper, blast it, primer and paint it body color? and then just get a pre-facelift rear apron? then just get m tech II front and sides.

anyone have any pics of similar setup? also, what rear valances are there?

That would look horrible.. just horrible.

Also, the side panels are going to also need cutting and bodywork to make them fit a earlier car. The fender arches are different....

There is a picture of one on E30.de and it looks wierd. The front looks very heavy and the back looks super thin....
      Im now E30less.

That's why I posted here first, incase it's ugly. I figure i've never seen it, so maybe someone on here has who can offer me some input.

so you guys are saying it would be ugly to mis-match those kits, or it would be ugly to paint euro chrome bumpers body color?

so what are my front and rear valance options, and what are my options for sideskirts (assuming that euro bumpers are pretty much my only bumper-option)?

also, could I use a euro front bumper with an m tech II front valance? I just like the way it looks a bit better

what the heck do grilles have to do with bumpers? :?

why not just go full euro bumpers with mtech-1? that would look a lot better than a mistmatched, hacked up Mtec-II kit. or get one of the mtech-II replicas and spend about $2k on having it fit properly..

i only checked the grills to see if it was euro or usdm. it appeared to have very small bumpers, which I'm assuming were euro bumpers. so I figure either 1. it's a tuner or 2. they imported a car from europe. right?

so I checked the grills. USDM. so that means it's not euro.

but the car was in terrible shape, so i didn't think the owner could have put those bumpers on

its not terribly uncommon to see a pre88 with post88 plastic bumpers. for alot of people its just a matter of telling a body shop what you want done, swipe their credit card, and go home. are you sure they werent just run of the mill plastic bumpers?

they weren't plastic bumpers though, they were chrome. which is why I don't get it

and the car was BEAT! rust all over the back of it, and the interior was dirty and messed up.

euro bumpers look excellent when colour coded. if you were to do this then you best getting hold of the plastic varient of the euro crome bumper. these were put on the uk 325isport"s. they were plastic because all sports had body coloured bumpers. i assumed that it saved pissing about with primers and such at the factory.

m-tech one or 2 side skirts will go straight on your car.

a euro front bumper and an m-tec 2 front valance maybe a bit odd?

just go for the whole m-tech 1 kit.

Got a source for these, Jon? I have heard of these once before, but it sounded like bullshit - now I'm interested - although I still have never seen these advertised anywhere.... ?
