I was curiouse about somthin simliar to this. If the in is dual pipes and the out is dual pipes does putting the in thru a Y pipe even if it's larger diamiter restrict more than the whole itself? I could be wrong but I have a hunch that this might be a factor. Your muffler looks good but everyone knows it would look better angeled.

I'd do a single pipe from the catback, if for no other reason than it would be lighter than two pipes...

If i were you, i would do a 2.5" pipe from the cat back. that looks a LOT like the muffler I have by the way.

Not yet, should be soon but I have one more question. If there are two holes comming out of the cat, how would they be able to do a single pipe?

I'd say let them run a "Y" to the muffler from the catback with a straight 2.5 or 2.75". Show the muffler to the shop doing the work, tell them what you want them to do, when the car is up on the lift they will be able to give you a better perspective on what they can do.

It is ridiculous to say that he will lose power going from a dual 1-7/8" pipe to a single 2.5". JWeb, try to get the shop to make a single 2.5" from the catalytic converter to the muffler. It won't be difficult for them to make a Y pipe to go to the single rear pipe.

I run a single 2.5" pipe from just aft the downpipes, all the way to the muffler.

Jordan--Can you elaborate on his car needing a dual-pipe setup?

i'm sure someone can copy/paste the UUC essay on dual pipes (for their S4 exhaust), because we all know UUC is impartial....

Ya, do the Y off the cat with 2.5 inch piping back to the muffler, it will be very nice. And NO, you will NOT lose power.

Can I use such an exhaust for my 318i auto?

I have been advised against it as I would lose backpressure?

Thinking of Sebring universal similar to the exhaust shown above?

                            Finally.
I got it put on today. Sounds good so far but there is a little droning. Now for the pics...

Looks good. Tips look great on the E30. What pipe setup did you go with, and any sound clips?

No sound clips, I don't have anything to record them with. I ended up keeping the dual pipes all the way up until about 6 inches in front of the exhaust, where it is just a Y pipe bringing the two pipes into one.
