    OEM trim Black paint code?

Is this the color code for all the trim pieces, shadowline and such that goes onto BMW's?

121 Mattschwartz Black Matte Standard Black

I am curious because I am having the car repainted and would like an exact match for all my trim parts, seeing as they're getting repainted as well. Let me know people if thats it or what is!

This does not answer your question, however, I have used a spray can of "Bumper Black" out of the truck accessories catalog and got reasonably good results. They also had what they call "frame black" which is another shade of flat black which claims to have the same result.

Yeah it's at those specialty automotive paint stores like chroma paint or watever, but I have it and it's perfect... durable too

Speaking of which.. and its off the subject here but has anyone ever successfully used chrome paint and made it look like REAL chrome? The can always says, "paint color matches the cap" and I am sure many people get fooled by this. I have yet to see chrome paint that does not look like a shiny shade of silver.

I tried the spray cans, bought 5 of them and tried and tried, with little paint, lots of paint, dipping the part, you name it, it ended looking like silver not chrome, the only thing i haven't tried is painting and then once dry sanding it, because a friend of mine tried it and got crappy results.

            But it can be done:

Nah man , it's always a silver with metallic flakes for that "reflective" property. It's ghey

Well having the car repainted, I don't want to buy a ton of spraycans for the job if the painters can do it. I'm sure they have something for trim.

Id go factory if I was going to take the time, money, and effort to have the car professionally painted. That said, I have no clue if thats the right color.

Thanks for that link. I am going to try their product to see if it looks anything close to what they claim. If it works, I might spray on a set of faux rocker panels. I may even spray the rear valience to give it that cheap 80's look.

Dupont Satin black works great too. It is alittle cheaper than SEM but it looks and performs nearly identical.

Change the title of the thread for me then to clarify that I'm not looking for a can, but an actual paintcode number?

                            EDIT: Thanks Barry Pepper!

matte is a low lustre paint, so with that being in the name you posted i would assume that is the code for bmw trim. have you tried paintscratch.com or talking to a reputable body shop in your area? if all else fails, you can buy sem in pints and quarts. it gets mixed and sprayed out of a gun. when i did my car, i bought a quart and did all the trim pieces, grilles, and whatnot and i think i still have half a quart left.
