    free body modificatiosn while painting

i am in the process of fixing the body work on my 325 and am going to be repainting it. here is what it looks like right now.

there are alot of problems that i will be fixing when i paint it. like:

    peeling clear coat

    door dent

    damaged fender

    damaged hood

    and finally the quarter panel

the hood will be repalced with this one once i get some small dings fixed

(you can see my welder peeking out from behind the hood near the top)

the fender will be replaced with this fender, it is perfectly straight

i am goin on saturday to cut off a good quarter panel to fix the drivers side, i am also getting a stud welder to fix the door dent and some other small things. The budget right know it about 700 for all the parts and paint. i already have all the equiptment to paint it because i aleady have painted a car.

i was planning on doing the bumper swap but i am unable to track down a set of bumpers. so what are some other cheap mods i could do? i was thinking about bumper tuck and removing the black textrue paint on the rockers.

        That camaro turned out wonderful!

Yeah, he did mention that in his post... ;)

You seem to be pretty good with body work, I think you could probably take on the plastic bumper swap pretty well. If you can't find bumpers though, my reccommendation would be european bumpers, second. But, since those are harder to find than plastic ones, tucking would probably be the way to go. I don't think they should be tucked all the way though, just enough to keep them from looking too bulky, ya know?

Can't wait to see the finished product!

paint the diving boards to and the rubber surrounds.. it'll look soooo much better! be sure to use flex agent for the rubber bits.

thanks, i'll see if i can post a better pic, the paint really shines when it is out in the sun. I won't be painting for about a couple of weeks, so i'll still be searching for some plastic bumpers, but if not i think i will paint and do a moderate tuck on the bumpers, i saw a picture of a 325is with painted aluminum pumpers and it looked pretty good.

shave the antenna and paint the rockers the same color as the body. Consider losing the chrome 325 on the back. Shadowline the window trim if not already done. Paint and tuck the bumpers or swap them.

If you are going to paint it, I would shave the antenna like JRowe said, and then put in an m3 style antenna. That way you dont have to worry about breaking your huge ass mast antenna.

Yea, I would definitly paint the bumper surrounds for now.. and maybe even paint the bumper itself in black. I'd look into some photoshop to see how it would turn out, but hands down body color trim makes it look much better.

                      Good luck with everything.

I can get you a halfway decent set of bumpers w/ valance for 300 if you want them
these were originally going to josh (eurospeed) until he found that he had to part his car out
painted alpine white 2 with factory fog blanks and all parking lights/turn signals and all connectors (not bumpers/valance in my sig)
