The ViS isn't perfect but it was never enough to bother me. It mounts to all factory points and functions as factory.

I've got a VIS, and it's 1/8" narrower on each side fender, so the gap is slightly larger, and it just dives a little up at the passenger windsheild cowl, not enough to matter if you either paint it, or leave unpainted on a Diamantschwarz car. Evo hood seals will help the gzap look less a big channel though.

I heard the "new VIS" routine a couple years ago, but I've never seen one that corrects the original issues. Then again, a used VIS is ~$400, nearly triple that for a quality fitting one.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

You should get an E30 car first.

the VIS hood isn't a "real" CF hood. it's fiberglass with a CF overlay. they look fine on black cars though, if the CF look is what you're after.

If one is painting it anyway, does anyone have any experience with IE's fiberglass hoods?

And the IE FG hood is a "race quality" hood with no provisions for stock mounting , not really what you want for a nice street car .
