Put one in and then take a picture. Then we'll have a side by side comparison.

    * I think the French fogs would look good with your amber blinkers and amber city-lights.
Good point but I wanna smoke the turn signal. I tried the mhw or whatever but it let water in and looked kinda odd being clear near the edges so I sold it, I think paint or lamin-x for the turn signal. Regardless I will take pics of the french someday.
Lamin-x will work very well if you prep the reflector properly. Just sand down all of the little writing on the reflector, clean it with rubbing alchohol and apply the lamin-x that you cut to size. Then paint (or color with a sharpie) the screws to make them black. I've been pleased with its results. And it'll protect them from rock chips/cracks.

Kidneys - black. 'Once you go black, you never go back'

Lights- Have you thought about getting all smoked lights? I think it would look sick all blacked out...dark tint too. If not, I'd say keep the clear fogs and smoke the turnsignals.

I dunno, I personally favor these lights over ellipsoids but I haven't compared to euro ones yet, will do very soon. The Cibie CSR is one sick light! I guess I prefer the look of the ellipsoids but I wouldn't want to sacrifice lighting.

Josh, Please refrain from answering m42 questions....it's apparent you need to do some more reading...

Back on topic. Black looks hott ;)
No need to be a smartass. I didn't know it was a 318i. I also never answered any question. Guess I should take my inferior knowledge of the M42 back to the M20 section.

I love how the attitude around here just grows ever-more childish by the day.

Ah yes, the never ending cibie csr vs euro ellipsoid debate. The verdict?

Nobody ever sent me $700 so I could try em both out :D

... Its not the first time you have said something wrong about m42s. Its evident you do a lot of reading and are observant. Just pointing out that you have made a few wrong calls of late...

childish attitude :?: c'mon now. recognize correction & admit fault.

And use our indoor voices too.

Go french, that would look sweet. I'll PS it if I get time.

hang on a sec....please excuse this dumb question but I'm not at my car right now.......are the kidneys supposed to be flush with the grill like that? Because it looks much nicer on the top pic than the one on the bottom with the chrome kidneys that looks like its sticking out.....

You know, I haven't looked that close but the ones I took off, the chrome ones were cheap OEM replacement not real BMW. I painted my originals. The chrome pic may have been taken with either grille, but likely was the cheap one. I think they do stick out a bit, but also it's perspective, the black ones stick out a bit too, especially from the side.

nice work, that works for me, I will have to get off my butt and put the french fogs in and smoke the turn signals.
                          Thanks Ken!

My opinion, since you have shadowline, go for the whole look. Blackout the front grill, get some smoked front turnsignals or smoke them yourself. And if you like the headlights you have so much, just smoke those instead of buying new ones. Just take Hella's approach. When you have a projector headlight, you can simply paint the reflector black instead of chrome because the projector doesn't use the reflector. In the case where a reflector is used, just copy hella's black "+" sign baffle. Inspar8r did it to his US ellips and you can barely notice the difference from my smoked euro ellips, except for the missing smiley.

Either way, I really like the French fogs.
