e36 M3 rear apron/bumper 99.5% complete, back on the car
You could argue "well I bought the hood to reduce weight, and I don't want to add some more back on by painting it" but to me it just looks like ya blew all your money on the hood, and didn't save any for paint. Kinda like putting $1500 wheels on a $400 car. But then again, I'm more for the sleeper look. I'd much rather have it painted, and have somebody notice the CF weave under the hood when i'm showing them something in the engine bay, than loudly spout "Bling bling its CF, bitches." Of course, I said there's some cars that it looks damn sexy on, but J's car isn't a DS M3 ;). naturally, that's IMHO.

You've got a point, but then again you don't. If CF hoods were manufactured solely for weight reduction, they wouldn't be perfectly finished like they are. That's part of the benefits of owning one: you get to show off the money you (okay, I'll admit it) "wasted" on a sweet looking hood, but at the same time you're saving a ton of weight. Plus, what's the point in buying a CF hood if the only time you're going to see it is when you open it? If it's a show car, I'd say go for it, but if all you want to do is save weight, buy a fiberglass piece and save yourself money.
I say it's OK if body panels are unpainted as long as there's a good explanation, such as extensive and custom bodywork, a la Jordan's car and some of the others around.
Leaving them unpainted because you want your 400k mile ETA's secondhand Rieger GTS kit and whatnot to stand out is stupid.
My two cents, of course.
"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
The hood will be left unpainted, and fully exposed.
and FYI, VIS CF hoods for the e30 do not fit well enough to paint them. You can get away with the fitment if it is left bare, and with evo hood seals. If you painted it it wouldn't look good.
I'll post pics of it on my car in a minute. I still have alot of custom work to do before it fits the best that it can. Bracket and hinge mods :)

Actually, to inform you, CF does not have to be finished with the exposed weave. That is an option of the manufacturer of course. If you ever watch TopGear's 10 minute discussion and insight into the creation of the McLaren F1, you can see CF go from its cloth state, through the oven, etc..etc.. and come out with a "flatish" black finish ready for painting. A gelcoat finish with an exposed weave is the finish you get if you want to "showoff" the CF, it doesn't pop out ready to go like that.
Secondly, why save money and buy a fiberglass piece? CF is stronger and lighter. If you can afford it, go for it, it's better in every way, it isn't necessary to show it off.
lookin good Jordan, just curious are you going to just respray the car in silver again, or change colors?? hood looks fucking amazing, but of coarse looks crappy on red e30s :(
