I did this to my sides and rear valence. I used a product called Aircraft Remover. It is VERY potent, and you will need to wear gloves and eye protection, and be in an open area. and MAKE SURE you don't get it on anything you dont want it on. It eats through that crap like nothing else. I used a metal scraper to scrape everything off. Looks far better in my opinion.

so the bumpy shit is just a rubbery sort of covering for the sides and front? and rear....looks good on ya sig...although that could also be your intercooler :D

I did mine a while ago and simply used a scraper and sanding. Depending on how well you use the scraper determines howmuch you have to sand and whether or not you may want a power sander. When i was convincing Jordan to do his, he talking about chemical stuff like matt which i guess is much easier. I guess I'm old fashioned or simply not into chemcial stripper. Mine came out great anyway.

I plan on smoothing out the front/rear valances and rocker panels as well.

I used some chemical paint stripper on mine. It took all the paint right off very easily. The rubber texture coat was relatively unaffected by the stripper. It did soften the rubber enough, and I used a razor blade mounted in a hand held scraper and sliced the rubber off the valance fairly quickly. Then I detailed all the nooks and crannys around the openings with a dremel. Once all the rubber and paint was off I DA sanded the entire valance with 100 grit, then 220. Once sanded I shot it with primer.

Does anyone have any closeups of their front spoilers with the bumpy crap removed?

I'd love to do this down the road as well.

Jordan, did you use the same chemical stuff as Matt?

Look at my post from 15 min ago. I'm doing the same thing and I got rid of the textured look with HEAVY sanding. I didn't use a chemical paint remover like others, but the sanding worked very well.

Isn't the valance big enough to use like a belt or orbital sander on it?
