Time to share..... look what $12 can do for your E30
Installed my $12.95 Volvo lip today.Spray painted with Duplicolor semi-flat black.Ends were trimmed with my buddie's Dremel.Tomorrow i'll secure it with some self tapping screws.Mad props to CRIS for making the discovery.
I didn't use clear coat. I went from painting - wet sand - chipguard - then a very light coat of the same paint over the chip guard.
I believe i had the light coat of chipguard. The e30 has the heavier texture, maybe the heavier coat of 3m might look better. But i'm satisfied with the look i have- it's pretty close to how the valace appearance..
Also if you want it vertically flush to the valance, you HAVE to trim the lip part about 1/8" to fit flush.
And if you are bothered by the side flaring.... here is what you could do......
....It was the only spring i had. I'm sure it could be done with a shorter spring or a zip tie, so it would not show as much.
hey cris trying to mount mine but its not sitting as flush as i want. what do you mean by trim the lip part to 1/8 inch? are you talking about you trimmed the bottom part of the volvo lip that we turn upside down? so towards the back bottom of the lip?

Johnwoo... check out Davidv's last posted picture as posted above. Look at the top of the lips, you'll notice that the top portion is a bit wider on the volvo lip. This is the piece that needs to be trimmed off- choose a tool -take a hacksaw, blade or dremel and trim that piece off.
Take care not to trim off too much because this is what attaches to your valance, it will be the piece that you either screw or zip tie.
I think it is exactly how you described it.... Good luck and post some pics when your done.
Thank you Davidv for the side by side comparison....

Looks good david! Wow, finally get to see more pics of your car! A friend on here (Todd) sent me a couple of pics of your ride, and its been my inspiration to get my car done asap! :D
Thank you Davidv for the side by side comparison....
No - thank you for figuring out this mod and posting about it. :-)
My wife and are building a new house and the road to the construction site is definitely not e30 friendly - lots of potholes and dips. With this lip mod, I can now not worry as much about damaging the lip on my E30 (I even have a spare Volvo lip thanks to Vacman in case something happens to this one).
Hey any of you guys that access to a pick and pull, we have none around where I live. If anyone has the ability to get a hand full of these things and ship them to me, that'd be awesome. I'll pay you for your time! I just have no access to these and i'd really like one for myself and a few of the other e30's in my area.

Yeah...it's amazing how durable these things are.I've run into parking lot curbs a few times already and the lip has manage to keep in shape.

I have one more that I'll sell. DavidV bought 2 from me. PM me for more information.
