I'm pretty sure there is a difference. I can't think of who but somebody here did an mtech II conversion to their cabby and originally got sides from a coupe, but they didn't fit so they had to find sides for a cabby..

The sideskirts are different due to taller rocker panels.........I unfortunately experienced this and had to buy new sideskirts from BMW AG.
With that said it might be possible to make cab sideskirts fit the shorter rocker panels on the hardtops although it would not be a good fit. The great thing about the original M-Technic kits is the perfect fitment so you shouldn't settle for less.
BTW, the E30 2dr is not a coupe'.
