Anybody dealt with the dome light bracket?

The one in my car practically disintegrated and the light is simply hanging from the hole in the headliner. Kinda afraid to mess with headliner to fix it and haven't found much information online on doing so.

What are some tips and tricks in replacing this? If possible, can someone provide a link to a tutorial with pictures?

Pull out the top of the door seal, then peel back the headliner. Be careful not to rip it. This will give you access to the dome light holder.

Will I need to apply new headliner adhesive after peeling back the headliner when doing this or will it stick back into place?

You might but probably not since it gets pinched by the door seal, it supports it.
