    Steering Wheel Wrap

My steering wheel cover had seen better days. Looking online I found RedlineGoods based in Wilmington Delaware. I had purchased a shift boot months ago and decided to try my hand at installing one of their steering wheel covers. The cover shipped from Poland and took a few weeks, but arrived as scheduled. When they say they give you MORE than enough thread, they're not kidding. I think I could have done at least one more steering wheel and maybe two.

First, take a breath and bring your patience. My first section was a bit rough, but I did get better as I went on. Their Youtube video is good, but of course those hands had probably done several dozen steering wheels. If you're cheap like me, go for it. But it is a fiddly process.

It really does improve the look and driving feel when you have a comfortable grip.

Awesome DIY! The more of these I see, the braver I become at doing it myself.

Interesting that you post this as I just redid the wheel in my Tesla. The Tesla leather cover was just $30 on Amazon too. Since Tesla vegan leather steering wheels tend to tear and leave a tacky residue...I had to do something. The Tesla being my daily driver and with nothing to lose, I went at it. I opted to do it with the wheel installed in the car. It was tedious and took about 2 hours as it was my first time and I wanted to get it right. I have to say that I am very happy with the results. The real leather feels much better than the original vegan leather and the perforations help me grip the wheel better. I think this is the way to go, particularly if you aren't too concerned about it being 100% OEM perfect. Nice job on your wheel, it looks great and I know it feels great also.

I'll update with a pic later just for reference. It's really cool someone finally came up with a DIY kit for classic BMW's as well.

here's a pic. I didn't use enough double sided tape on the 3 and 6 o'clock but oh well.
