This looks GREAT! I was wondering about fading and staining too. It doesnt stain anything it touches? Nothing left on the carpet will stick or get stained?

Has anybody tried the spray for the door cards? I did about 15 years ago but I am sure the stuff has changed by now. Way back then I sprayed gray over tan and it worked ok, but started cracking in some spots.

Agree with the above statements defending Duplicolor. It does NOT work well if the surface is not clean and oil free. I have had great luck with several cars now using duplicolor products. SEM on the other hand.... I've had some consistency issues with their products.

No staining or wear so far, but only a month out. Also I did my door panels with the stuff too and that worked out great. LOL takes ALOT of cleaning though. I spent about 3 hours cleaning and 20 minutes painting. That's usually how paint process' work out though.

Thanks for the DIY Schnitzer, and for the guys who responded that the Duplicolor paint seems to hold up well. I've been debating whether to go with black carpet too, but can't decide what looks best with my seats and door panels. My '89 325is is Zinno with Natur leather. I'm definitely going to dye my headliner black and also the rear shelf. I'm thinking the premium sound speaker enclosures should be switched to black then also--right? Or maybe I could just paint them with the vinyl paint?

I noticed you have tan seats w/black door panels, so are you slowly switching to total black interior? My sport seats and door panels are in VERY good condition so I'm wanting to keep them, but wondering how it would look contrasted with the black carpet. Anyone have photos of this?

My carpet is out of the car right now after a major water leak.

After a thorough cleaning, it still looks great after 3 years.

                    I will take pics sooooon

Same. I just finished stripping out my interior to do this, I'm hopefully going to pull the carpet out this weekend and tackle this on Sunday.

Why not just use the SEM over it (is it paint or dye)? Even with it fading in a couple of spots, can't u just touch it up for a perfect finish again? These are just questions, I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything.

I was doing rubbing, squatting, crawling, and all kinds of abrasive activities to it and it held fine. Only time will tell if it holds up.
Shoot, forgot to answer this. It faded from traffic wear. It's still holding up very well for what it is though. I encourage to clean it very well before hand make sure into the carpet very well. I personally think SEM is just a better product, plus the SEM did a lot better on my seats than I expected so I'm kinda biased. I think this second go around for me will do the trick permanently.
