BMW OEM Floor Mat Locks

I've used velcro, but it ruins the carpet as well after repeated removals, cause each time you pull it off, you're pulling at the threads on the carpet as well.

My friend used velcro too and i think he hate it..lol

Mine have never ruined the carpet. I stab the carpet with a small flat-blade screw driver. Small slit, hardly a mark when I have removed the mats.

I like the ones I have. They used to come with the OEM mats. I hear they dont anymore though. Metal eyelet is already in the carpet factory, no wider than a dime.

yes, those are the ones I'm talking about. I think I'm going to try velcro next.lol.

The one peeve I have about them is they ruin the carpet. Because they are self tapping it pulls the weave of the carpet out. sure you don't see it when the mats are down but once you remove it - there it is..4 ugly holes..

For those that wondered, BMW does have an OEM floor mat lock. I created this thread to help with the install. My car came with aftermarket floor mats so not sure what the OEM ones look like and if they have the hole for the locks. I only found one thread on another forum but it didn't give enough information, some information was misleading. I just ended up measuring and opening a hole to clip the top and botton of the plastic doughnuts. Then the lock/threaded plastic clip, just screws into the carpet. The BMW part number is 51 47 1 919 171. Only thing I was not liking, was the lock itself. When you lock it and then swivel the triangle down, it does not file in the hole. So in the picture, it looks like it is standing and just a little sits higher than the upper doughnut. You would need 2 per mat. I don't believe that the rear mats will need them.

Now to figure out the e46 mats.
