Moto-meter to VDO question

Currently I have a Moto-meter "i" cluster in my 87is with the "check" panel. I am looking into buying a euro "i" VDO cluster. I thought I read that sometimes moto-meter and VDO are not compatible? Is this true? Anyway I think it will work, but my major concern is the "check" part of the cluster. The euro cluster I want to put in does NOT have the "check" part. Will my actual check panel work just fine I just won't have the stupid "check" blinking on my dash???? If so then I would be fine with that. Please let me know if you have experience with swapping clusters. Thanks,

You know, I was thinking about that. I have an 89 325i speedo (euro) that doesn't work. I also have an 87 325i that worked. Unfortunately, the 87 speedo (US) housing got damaged from the crash. I swapped the housing and SI board. I don't know how to tell if it works since I haven't installed it yet. I;m getting an engine swap from the 87 to the 89. Did yours work?
