What are my options as far as sport seat upholstery kits go? I have Kevin at creative options, and that ebay store leatherseats.com. Any other ones to price and check out?

I am looking for the same type of things to redo my sport seats. I would just prefer fabric or just something fairly cheap. I'd prefer to find a shop to do it on the cheap in or near LA.Team HybridsComment

"Fairly cheap" is subjective when it comes to upholstery. My custom set from Kevin was $1400. I still have to install it. To get the shop to make and install the same thing would have been $3000. I checked with 2 reputable shops and they were very close to the same price. For the most part, I think you get what you pay for when it comes to seat kits.sigpicComment

ya, its my 2nd car not primary. So I am not looking for something terrific. Like $300 for both fronts. I know that is a tall task but I think it can be done. I've decided to opt for a local upholsterer. The TOP notch guy(guy does show cars) can do vinyl to my spec in top notch material for 700-800 for a coupe- installed.
I cheaper guy can do it for 400-500.I don't always wreck cars, but when I do I wreck them into trees.

Maaannnn thank you, I'm going to use you for my PR guy. Most people don't seem to understand what a pain in the ass it is to recover these things and then install them..................:hitler:"Fairly cheap" is subjective when it comes to upholstery. Iggee seat covers guys, it is basically the same as re doing the whole seat, 190 bucks for both fronts (sport)
Starting up a group buy (still waiting for their response...)http://www.iggee.com/shop.cart?actio...prod_id=BMB005

No way these are basically the same as re-doing the entire seat. New leather is worth the money if it's in your budget. Seat covers look like seat covers. Which can be a major improvement for a lot of seats out there.Iggee seat covers guys, it is basically the same as re doing the whole seat, 190 bucks for both fronts (sport)

I purchased a kit for front sports from these guys and installed it myself. It was on the expensive side, but the leather is very nice. Wasn't hard to hog ring it in place.

(found thread while doing some "research" on subject) Also looking at options since it's hard to justify cost of a professional (?) job when it hovers near (or above) cost of entire car, plus you can forget about any ROI. Then there's the concern with straight out covers or the DIY kits in either material that the aged padding underneath it all won't be enough to make a good fit anyway. That worlduph site says it good:
"Seat pads, just like seat upholstery, is susceptible to damage and shrinkage. It is impossible to customize upholstery for a seat pad that is no longer standard-sized. Good trimmers can re-build seat pads to make the new upholstery fit but most of the time replacement is the best option."
And that shit ain't cheap either!Comment
