Looks good, but doesn't seem to fit the E30. I think the horizontal stiching will definately help. Just seems kinda puffy. It would look better in a classic chevy or something.

I'd like to see it with the handle/armrest back on before passing judgement...That being said though, I think stitching at an angle that parallels the angle of the handle would look cool. You know, like this //////. Just a thought.

That would be interesting. I would consider it, but I can't undo anything. And If I didn't like it I would have to re-do the entire door. And I think horizontal would look better.

It will be a few days before you see it with the armrest on. I got a little sidetracked. Here is how far I am. I have spent about 25 minutes on it. lol

            That stitching looks haggard.

              "haggard"

not very helpful for improvement. You dont like the way the stiching is visible, or you don't think it was done well? I planned on it being kinda like the stitching on seats, where it is defineately visible, but meant to be. Here is another pic. And on the right side, the two pieces are overlapping a little, they wont be when it is installed.

I could stich the two on the inside, but then I would nave a LOT of trouble getting the vinyl to lay anything near flat. Internal seams seem to work better along corners.

Alright, I decided it looked like ASS, so i redid it. I used an internal seam, not as flat as before, but not ugly either. Also got the carpet in the mail. It is darker than I wanted, but I think it will look okay. The interrior is going to be 2-tone. Tan everthing, darker carpet, black seats, black dash, black console, black convertible top.

LEt me know what you guys think about the carpet.

If you consider beige and light brown different tones (which I bet most poeple do) than yes. I wanted it lighter, but I was kinda stuck with it, and It looked decent next to the vinyl.

My goal with this car is not "show winner" it's "make the owner happy". Which it will. Or else I would have bought another carpet mold. I appreciate the input. I will keep posting pics.

Last wekend I went to seattle for parts. Here is what I got for $100-
                    2 inner door handles
                    rear ashtray
                    dash
                    glovebox
                    under steering column panel
                    door lock post caps
                    ring that holds shift boot

all in great shape... haha I love deals

This thread seems to have died. But I figured I would give you guys some more photos to chew on.

I think your work is fine. Some of these guys are really picky. And I like it without the vertical stitching. It's different and clean, kind of like what most of us aspire to with our exteriors. Considering you did this by yourself for cheap. Kudos!

Any close up shots of the finished armrest? I was interested in that piece. That work is very good!

Thanks for the encouragment guys. I wish I had taken pics of the armrest when it was off of the car. I could show you guys the 4 seams more effectively. I was actually able to sew decent looking seams after the material was permanently attached to the fixture. I put them on the backside anyway though.

So far the only part I am really dissatisfied with is the panel in the backseat. I have some very small wrinkles that will not come out at all. You cannot see them in the pics, I will likely leave them, since it is just the backseat.

also the ghetto looking front seats are going to be ditched for either recaro sports in beige black (about $1200) or corbeau seats in solid black (about $600). I really want to tie the seats into the two tone, but that is nearly a months pay for me....

Looking much better. The lines on the door panel look a little crooked to me but overall I think it looks okay.

I think it looks gross, but props for having the balls to try it.
