U can wire an aux input into the stock radio. I did it, all u have to do is dissassemble it and find the red/whire/black wires on the tape input & solder your connections there. Sounds much cleaner than a tape adapter/fm modulator

ok guys, i spoiled myself for xmas and got a new one to play with. No it wont fit in the console spots, but now that i think about it i prefer it being down near the parking brake somewhere....

Im going to make an adapter so it can plug into any normal deck that supports aux in/USB... basically just give it male usb and 3.5mm plugs on the back.

i was thinking if this works i could do a group buy on the adapters.... if anyone is interested... more details when i actually get one done.

I don't have the stock radio but I'm curious as to how it will turn it out. Let us know how it turns out in this thread.

this will work on any radio that has usb and/or aux in features on it!

I was digging through my box o connectors and found one that works...

but this one is proving difficult!, any ideas on part numbers?!?

I saw an E30 at the yard with one. Similar to the aftermarket alarm blanks with the led fitted to them, that are common on old e30s. Figure it cannot be hard to stick a jack and wire into that. This is the LED-blank I was referencing: (my car's old dash setup)

I dont have the stock H/U, but could probably make a similar adapter for it.(i can easily source one)

My original i am making is mainly to have a clean look to any after-market radio, rather then having a USB port hanging out beside the cig lighter, and an aux cable in the glove box, this provides a clean OEM look and keeps those features.

I went today and dug through a massive box of E92 wiring, and had no luck finding the other connector......

This is exactly what I want for my vert. I have a spare rear ash tray I would like to fit a USB port and AUX in to. USB to power only. AUX to stock premium radio.

At this point it looks like it would cost about $40 per adapter to have both USB and 3.5mm, or $20 per cable if you only want one or the other.

Solder-less adapter with all new oem pins and connector housings.

I just ordered all the parts to make one(not just the soldered prototype), so once that is done ill get some real pictures and gauge interest.

Can you measure this? Looks like it will fit into an e36 perfectly, just want to confirm before I order.
