Anyway to "cure" the banging/rattling when closing my doors?

This is something that bothered me with my last E30, and is currently bothering me with the new one. I'm referring to the rattling / banging when I close my doors. Even if I don't close them hard, which I rarely do, it sounds like everything in them is banging around. I don't know if it's the glass, the mechanisms that raise and lower the window, or everything in there.

In Jordan's car, his doors make very little noise when closing, and I'm sure others have cured the noises as well. I'm wondering what can be done to get rid of it? Is it just worn parts? Loose bolts? Any suggestions are welcome, as I'm sure other people experience this annoyance as well. It just drives me nuts that I've got this really nice condtion E30 that makes very few rattles or noises, yet when I close my doors, it sounds like they are going to fall off.

Maybe try taking off the door panal and see if you can find anything rattling when you shut the door.

My passenger door is pretty bad. If the window's down and you close the door even remotely hard you can hear the glass bang inside the door.

That's what I'm talking about, and it's bad on my car on both sides. I need to fix it before it makes me crazy.

My car doesn't do it at all. I've heard various accounts of late model window regulators being of a better design. Maybe swapping to these would solve your problem.

I've switched to the late model window motors. Required changing of a gasket and whatnot. Overall, was WELL worth the effort. Windows are smoother and quicker than before.

I'm thinking something's just loose. Pull the panel off, and try tightening up some screws.

Do you have a post about your swap? What's involved? THe little things like that I really want to get done on my car. Smoother faster windows. It's small, but it makes a big difference.

I actually have a few write ups to make. one of them being that. I took some pictures along the way.

It's really simple. You just gotta have everything. You also need to drill a hole in one spot, lol.

Overall, it's a really easy swap. But, I don't have the time yet. When I graduate, and I finally get my garage cleaned out, I'll be able to sit down and make my write ups.

Graduate? An Idaho resident? Isn't that against the law or something? :)

Drill a hole. fun. I'll bet if I get off my lazy ass and grab a late style mechanism, I can throw it in there and figure this shit myself. If cow tipping Sean can, I'm sure it's not far out of my grasp :)

(seriously, we're all patiently awaiting your writeups, congrats on the graduation :) )

                      Jesus...

Actually, that was pretty funny... hahah :P

I moved here about two years ago from MN, so I never got into cow tipping actually.

I know I say I'll make them. But, I will, I will do my best to. I promise! :D ;)
