Back of my 74 2002, rear seats were trash and wanted a inexpensive fix since I redid the interior in my 76. This is version 1.0, I want to redo it and make the edges look cleaner/less squared.

Both of those look great! I'm actually doing the same in my car, and have been kicking around ideas on what to do.

I hope no one sits on it. (leans on it, breaths on it, looks at it wrong)

Well, the point is to delete the rear seat, right? If you aren't using the space as a seat it will be hard to break.

Exactly. However, when I do mine, I'm still going to use something stronger than foam insulation panels and pegboard. But I think if you read that guy's thread, he did it just using stuff he got at Home Depot, and said he was probably going to refine it.

I would make a thick padded mover's blanket type of thing - in effect making a fitted, custom cover. Then use some clasps, or snaps that you could rivet to the bulkhead to keep it in place...The seats would still be able to go back in with out much effort, and the dense blanket should cut down on noise, unlike a peg board and speaker cloth.

I just like the idea so I can tell people "sorry, it only seats two" - and them not argue with me.

I don't get the point of this.

Why remove the seats in the first place? Doing it to save 5lbs? That weight is insignificant on a street car. On a race car where every ounce counts, removing the seat makes sense, but there is absolutely no reason to make a decorative panel on a race car.

You're spending time and effort to fix a problem that you're creating by removing the seat in the first place.

The stock rear seats look like something that belongs in a Camery. It's one of the worst looking rear seats BMW ever made. It's just BLAH. The m3 seat is SO much more hansome...but still. I don't blame guys for getting rid of it. And I *hate* people in the rear seat of a two door car. What am I in high school? No - I'm not. You can't ride in the back of my car dude. /rant.

Sorry, but that sounds like a really weak reason to go through this effort.

My rear seats are installed, but the seatbelts are missing, so I can still tell people they can't ride in the back because there are no belts. There are any number of excuses you can use to not let people sit in the back.

I don't have anything against the e30 back seat, but even if you don't like it, it's still cleaner looking than making pegboard panels covered in speaker box carpet.

I would take thin ply, or whatever, then glass over it?
