Ok,...I'll put nails protruding up. Problem solved. ;)

Meanwhile, you'll have three 6' tall guys in your back seat, and your driver's seat pushed into the steering wheel...

(I'm not saying this is a great idea...just, you know...)

Well, in that case the pegboard would be perfect, so you get equally spaced nails throughout.

If you have an e46 like the guy in the linked thread then I think it's a great idea because just look at the increased amount of cargo space you'd have. Seems like it would give you some of the benefits of a touring while still being able to drive a sedan. Also it looks like it would only take a few minutes to remove and put the stock rear seat back in the car. You could even set up a little bed and sleep in your car heheh

But anyway, for an e30, I'd agree with you that there's not much of a point to it unless you're willing to cut more of the sheetmetal away and make a larger passthrough to the trunk. If the goal is purely just for weight savings then it seems kind of pointless to me when a foam rear seat cant weigh much more than 10 - 15lbs. Even less if you cut out some of the foam.

I got an E30 because it does have a back seat... If you want a 2 seater I think there are other car options. Maybe I'm speaking blasphemy?
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

don't you have a family? I won't cage my M3 because I want to be able to go for ice cream and such with the family sometimes too.

personally I don't get it unless it is an old car and a seat is really that expensive, and I would still only do that as a crutch until I could get a seat. to each his own though.

ummmm, they are fold down rear seats, so actually you are gaining nothing.

My car is not my family car. I can count on one hand the number of times all 3 of us have been in the E30 together. I have a Volvo wagon, and a Nissan pickup for time when we all need to go somewhere together. I take my wife out for rides in it occasionally, and the same with my daughter.

Beyond that, I have a new set of Recaro Trophys that are going to be recovered and installed in my car, replacing the MkII GTI Recaros that were in there. Recovering a rear seat to match, on top of finding an M3 rear seat, is going to be super expensive, and not at all worth it when a rear seat in my car is pretty much just for looks. If I do in fact ever need a rear seat, my plan is to have the seat-delete done in a way that it could be removed and the stock rear seat could still be installed.

This is the style I've chosen to build my car in, a race-inspired street car. I love the styling of a stripped-out interior that resembles a race/touring car, and that's the style I've started to model my car after. I would think after this many years on this forum and in this community, people would stop trying to talk people out of doing what they want to their cars and building them the way they want. Others having to "understand" or "get" why people are doing things shouldn't have to be a requirement.

"Sorry, the front seats don't fold forward" is the best excuse. Or just throw a rollbar with a crossbrace in there and call it a day.

I'd like to actually get a harness bar installed in mine at some point, I'm going to start getting a lot more serious into autocross with the new engine going in.

Oh, I didn't know that e46 seats were fold down. I retract my previous statement then, it does seem like a pretty pointless mod for an e46.

Too bad the e30 doesn't have a fold down rear seat or larger pass through to the trunk, though I suppose with a little work it could be done.

That is the single biggest gripe with my 4 door, when I had my two door with no rear seats I never had a problem. Now its a fucking bitch all the time giving these fucking assholes rides. This is what you do, get two boxes, place in back seat, call it a day.
