sacrilegious recaros...

how big is your waste BTW? because these are the exact seats I'd like to get. But I'm not that wide. -
I really like the look of these seats, and it took me a while to find a clean set. All I need is for the bolsters to be an inch or so wider. They're just narrow enough to piss me off. I'm going to try modifying them. If it's not enough, you can look for them in the "for sale" section.Leave a comment:

6' 215? You bought the wrong seats. You can bend the bolsters out a little, but you risk breaking the weld. Sounds like you should sell them and get something wider.
They're not Japanese seats either, which has been pointed out.Leave a comment:

Those are awesome seats, but dont know how you going to modify them. I know exactly what you mean, I have sat in some seats that are meant for smaller people. After 10 minutes of driving my legs would go numb. Problem is they are narrow in the middle, so while opening up the bolsters would help, but dont think it would solve the problem.Leave a comment:

Good, that's what I'll do then as I only need a little bit more room. Soon as your brackets get here, I'll be in business.Leave a comment:

SRDs were OEM equipment on 2.5 BMW M3s ;-) So, it's not a sacrilege. Yes, you can undo the coverings and foam, and bend the tubular support, but it will only help a bit.Leave a comment:

sacrilegious recaros...
So, I just scored a set of JDM integra type R recaros fresh from good ol' Canadia. I know, I know... JDM+e30=sacrilegious. However, they are very similiar to SRDs and practically the same recaros that came in the e30 m3 evoIII (pics below for comparison). Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.
The problem... I'm 6' and 215lbs and these seats are obviously made for tiny japanese people. They feel fine except that the bolsters are a hair too narrow. I dropped a guap on them, so I'm not very happy about them not being perfect. I'm not an upholsterer and don't know too much about these things, but is it possible to widen the bolsters a little? I'm thinking I can just remove the diaphragm under the seat bottoms, get to and remove the bolster foam, and heat/bend the metal underneath the bolsters outward to make more room for my legs. Is this possible? Will it wrinkle the bolster material and make it look like a pair modified JDM turds? Any help before I franken-fuck my seats up would be much appreciated. Thanks.
