Replacement Steering Wheel for 1991 325ix

Tried replacing the god ugly Airbagged steering wheel without success..

I bought a base steering wheel from a 1989 325i and it wont fit because my steering column has a locking mechanism and the grooves on the older steering wheel is too shallow to accommodate the "locking" latch

What can I do to change this hot mess?

Um... Unlock the steering column. It should fit.

You'll also need spacers, early model turn signal , cruise, wiper stalks, and cheeck panel for a perfect retrofit

i just replaced my airbag wheel w/ a non-airbag mtech 1. You have to turn the key to unlock the wheel (once you have the 22mm bolt out)...and the wheel slides out.

When putting the non-airbag wheel, put the new wheel on, then spacer, then the 22mm nut to tighten.

i also have an mtech 1 wheel in my 89 ix. (pre-airbag) much better look than the 4 spoke deal it came with.

i bought it from ebay....the seller was from Latvia. I think there's a bunch out there for sale.
