    Sport Seat repair questions.

My seats don't like to stay up when I put a bit of pressure on the back. I took the worse one out and took it apart to rebuild. I was wondering if replacing the springs on either side would keep that from happening. And should I just go ahead and replace the struts as well?

they don't stay up because the struts ( small shocks ) are toast. Replace them only.
the side mech rarely ever wear out or break.

I miss read his post: I believe his mech may also not be locking. but since he has the seat apart he might as well inspect and try them.

    sorry for not elaborating.

Well... hold on. Do they not stay up *when you pull the adjustment lever* or all the time?

I get the impression when the seat is in the upright positing - locked the mech isn't holding the seat back. then I would say it is the seat mech. possibly seat shock too. but heck! what do I know..lol

Yes, I agree. Though I have to say, I took apart *many* seats and I have rarely seen mechanisms that wouldn't engage. Take apart, clean, use graphite to lubricate, put back toghether?

Well I know that my shocks are blown. It won't stay up when I pull the lever. But when I put any weight on the back of the seat, it wants to recline. Like when I go to get my id out of my wallet when I get pulled over, the whole things falls back and makes a clicks, like the mech is slipping. and I was thinking that it's just the spring on the side is worn out and not as strong.
