    Steering Wheel Spacer

    Free plug:
    http://www.smartracing.net/

    under Driver Comforts.

Extension: Momo, Sparco and OMP make an extension, but it is far too short. With the driving style required in competition, hands and fingers can touch the dash and stalks, distracting the drivers concentration. Our extension is 32mm (1.25") which we found to be perfect for the people who have tested them in Club Racing, Time Trial, and Autocross cars. It also makes getting in and out of the car easier because the wheel is further up and back.
Steering Wheel Extension: part #721100 $39.95
Ok, lets get to the basics
If you have a 350mm steering wheel (Momo, Sparco, or in my case Simoni) then you'll know that if you are relatively tall, you cant see the top of your gauges.
So I put my order in for this spacer and just finished installing it.
    Installation was stupid easy.
    Remove steering wheel bolts (6).
Put spacer behind wheel, use supplied 45mm bolts
    Reattach.
    Took like 3 minutes.

NOTE: The spacer WILL make the wheel farther from the column stalks (directionals, wipers, cruise control). So unless you have really long fingers, you might have to reach off the wheel for it now.

    Mini review:
    WOW!
amazing what a 1.25" thick piece of aluminum will do for your ergonomics!
It offers much better leg room so when I go to clutch, I can come straight in on it rather than bow leg it.
The steering wheel is more at Chest/Shoulder level. Makes it much easier to get leverage on the wheel
I can see my gauges again! (particularly from 50-80 and 3000rpms to 5000rpms)
The stalks are a bit farther away, but I can deal with that.
I HIGHLY recommend this for E30s with after market sport steering wheels and drivers that are over 5'10"

I will have to get one of those when I get my next E30. Sounds like a great idea! I hated always hitting my knees on the wheel when clutching.

that was the cheapest one I could find
it ended up being about $50 shipped
There are others but for some reason people charge between $90 and $200 for some of them
I HIGHLY recommend it. now I just need to get a taller gear knob... that isnt solid aluminum (sorry Chris, but its REALLY cold out)

That was part of the reason for my buying it, every time I turned my hands turned on the blinker or wiper inadvertantly, really annoying

Yea, I guess the wiper and turn signal stalks are different on the airbag equipped cars. Same thing happens to me with my M-tech II wheel.

                    it should
                    I didnt try it
but its a metal spacer, so it should complete the circuit on my wheel just fine
