Anybody make replacement clear lenses for cluster?

If I could replace the scratched face of my cluster, I would be extremely happy! The rest of my cluster is great. I think a vendor could make a killing copying these and making replacements;)

I'm pretty sure you can polish it. or buy a nice used one.

it's a pretty complex shape though, making a mold for the E30 crowd would be pretty cost prohibitive. I bet it would be cheaper to buy a brand new cluster from BMW..

Can you just purchase the front part of the cluster separately, without the SI board?

I don't think you can get individual parts anymore.

I guess I'm more concerned about fixing the scratches....nothing like a clean, unmolested plastic cover....I'll give this a try though

You can polish plastic just like paint. Working from coarse to fine. You can even take out deep scratches.

Do you recommend using an orbital for it then?

You could.....but if you generate too much heat, the surface of the lenses will melt.

I know to remove swirls from paint, polishing by hand won't make much of a difference compared to an orbital, so I was using the same thought process. You think elbow grease should suffice?

I recently built some custom clusters for a few guys - and I did all the refurb by hand. Came out a mirror finish.
