Replacing all climate control and cluster bulbs diy anywhere?

Most of the bulbs in my interior are either blown or really dim. I want to replace them all. How many bulbs is there and where can I buy them? Is there a write up anywhere on replacement? I have searched and pelican has a good write up on the OBC but mine is OK. Want to do this when I replace the stereo.

    thx

You can get those tiny wedge bulbs from different online retailers who sell BMW parts. They aren't expensive. I think there's 2 for the climate control specifically.

You need two bulbs for the climate control. You can get them at autozone, as they are not "seated" like some of the other bulbs. Pelican Parts should tell you what you need for your instrument cluster - you need to order these bulbs from them b/c they are either "seated" or are not a common bulb. If you are replacing the cluster light bulbs you should also replace the headlight switch light bulb while you are at it. You can get this one at autozone, and it is the same size at the climate control ones. I think that is 12 volts, 1.2 watts, or something like that. If you have the HVAC panel out, you might as well replace the lights for the OBC. There is a "seated" 12v 1.2 watt bulb in the back of the housing as well as the light bar. Order an LED light bar on Ebay, (20 to 30 bucks) and never replace it again. You can get the door lights from autozone.

      Hope this helps.

Edit, the locations of the climate control lights are near each of the knobs.

depending on whether you have a early or late model e30. the early models don't have the larger opening at the bottom of the heater switch panel so that you an access the bulb sockets. the later models do. if you have small enough fingers you can pull the sockets out and replace the bulbs. if you can't then you have to remove the radio bezel to get to those bulbs. I believe the temp dial has the socket at the bottom and the fan speed has the socket at the top. bmw want's stupid money for each bulb. aftermarket is much cheaper. 1.2 watt. if you get a higher wattage you might melt the plastic housing so be careful. don't put higher wattage bulbs in the cluster or you will melt the orange plastic surrounds. taking the cluster out is easy and once out bulbs are easily accessible.
