    guage cluster modzzz

I might be replacing the steering wheel sometime soon, so i thought i might as well do some improvments to the guage cluster

I might just try to pick up an m3 cluster for the red needles and tach that matches my redline but could i put the mpg guage back in it?

Somewhere there is a write up for e36' s on how make a buzzer for the oil pressure light and im gunn try and do that

also i think the lighting is too dim. I also know that brighter bulbs will melt the orange plastic. What about LEDs? They are bright and dont produce heat right?

What is the point of the ///m cluster if you want to keep the mpg guage?

the 7k redline tach and good looking red needles. The only reason i would want the mpg is because i wouldnt want to install a pressure sender for the oil. THats nessary right?

Hey, I believe everything just swaps out. Let me have first crack at that oil guage if you end up getting an M3 cluster, I'm going to MegaSquirt 'n Spark so my MPG guage won't function.

Your stock gauge cluster has a 7k tach

I'd say just paint your needles red and don't tear up a ///M cluster

I don't get the obcession with red needles to begin with. Granted, they are M-powered, but they look so "Ford" to me. White is where it's at.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

i think the red needles just look a lot more classy. And yeah the tach goes to 7000 but the redline is 6500.

Is nothing nessary to get the oil pressure to work on a non m car?

The M3 cluster tach goes to 8000. If you really are interested in one, I have one for sale on ebay right now. The M3 cluster does not have an oil pressure gauge, it has an oil temperature gauge. You would [obviously] need to add a sender to make that work, along with connecting it to the cluster.

damn that thing sold for a ton on ebay.

I think for the temp i could just get a sender that replaces the drain plug, or maybe tap the oil pan. Could anyone give me some advice on the wiring though?

also i've read a few threads and people say the tach is off a little. Is this only true when in 325's even when the 6cyl coding pkug is used? cant see a reason for why it would be off with the 318

red needles are harder to see at night imho.

Use of a Sharpie corrected my tach's redline...

M3 clusters always sell for at least $150 from what I've seen.

sorry, I just asked this on the thread above... has anyone gotten the #194 LED lamps to work in place of the 3-watt bulbs?

LED's don't project as well as bulbs. They might be brighter, but the light does not spread out. LED's will make the cluster darker due to this, not brighter.
