    Sport seat issue questions.

I've done some searching and found maybe an answer or two, but I want to get some thorough answers before I start taking apart my seat.

    1. The lever to move the seat up for passengers to get in won't work. (unsure of issue, possible cable broken?)

    2. When I use the lever on the bottom to adjust the seats angle, it just shoots back, requires hand to hold up the position I want. (read about it and many people say it's the shock, so I'm going with that for my best bet unless someone else wants to say something).

    3. Finally there's a little play in my seats? Is it the bushings or what?

How much work am I looking at here myself?

    Play? Where? What bushings?

Take the back off of the seat and check out the mechanism for question #1.

Get a new set of shocks too.

The cable to the lever could be broken which is why it won't flip up for passengers.

get new shocks to prevent it from falling back when you adjust the back rest.

Don't know about the play. I would have to take a look myself.

        cool, I'll do that tomorrow.

Now as for play, it's when I'm sitting in the seat, when I accelerate or brake to a stop the seat shifts forward a slight or back a slight. Almost like a very tiny tilt movement.

Is the play in the seat rails or the seat back?

I just picked up some sport seats from a wrecked bimmer, and the sliding rails had play in them, so I ended up switching the rails of my old seat. One of the sport seats also had play on the back rest, I took it apart and found that one of the brackets had broken (at the bottom right side of the drivers seat there is a large philips-head screw) it broke right by it. So, I will probably either get it reweleded, or find a doner seat.

            1. most likely the cable.. dunno though, mine still work fine.
            2. the seat shocks are worn out. replace them if you want it to come back up, I never have because I pretty much leave my seats in one posistion.
            3. there could be a crack in the frame somewhere, these seats like to do that (my passenger seat is a bit loose like you describe). you can usually have it welded back up pretty cheap. could just be a loose nut too.

The sport seats I used to have had some play in them and it turned out the little metal brackets that hold the seat back to the bottom had snapped and were causing the seat to move. They are very easy to weld or buy new ones.

So where do you get new shocks?
Where can you get any new parts for our seats for that matter?

I picked it up from the dealership. I'm sure you can get them from bma as well
