    If only life was easy

OK I have had my momo wheel on for a while now w/ no horn. I didn't hook up the horn b/c I didn't have time. I tryed to do it today w/ no luck.

I unhooked the horn b/c w/out a horn switch hooked up the horn will go off constantly if the key is turned. My momo hub came w/ a grounding ring w/ a wire on it that connects to the hub. There were no wires for a horn button (I don't know if there should have been). Also how do you run the horn button wire? There is no hole or anything to run the wire through. I did run it under the rubber thing that goes over the hub but when you turn the wheel...well it doesn't want to turn b/c of the wire.

Also I put some washers under the nut like you are supposed to do w/ a airbag car and its still not really tight felling.

This has almost been to much trouble than it was worth....I guess I'm asking how to make the stupid horn work and how to make the wheel nice and snug.

I recently put a momo wheel and hub on my '91 318is and had similar trouble with the horn. I haven't had time to get around to trying to figure it out.

I may be able to help you get the wheel snug. Does it actually come up the splines a little? That would be no good. I went to Home Depot and got some locking washers, they were like 0.75" ID and less than 1" OD. They are pretty thick and are spiraled so that when you torque down on them they provide a force on the nut and prevent the nut from spinning with friction. I bought 4 of these but I think I only used 2 to get the correct spacing and they locked it up pretty well. A couple months like this and it has been working great.

Let me know if you ever get the horn figured out.

I had this problem as well. The problem I found was that the adapter that the horn grounds to doesn't actually act as a ground. Has to do with the type of metal that is used for the adapter. I fixed the problem by connecting the ground wire down to the bolt that holds the steering wheel onto the steering rack. This solved my problem.

Put more washers if the steering wheel is still loose.

connect a piece of wire to the "ground" spring tab thing on the side of the button. and connect it to one of the allen key bolts, or anywhere on the actuall wheel you can find. tooo easy, just gotta be a litlle creative.

Its not that difficult. You should have 2 wires, one from the wheel that connects to the ground, and one from the steering column, that goes to the horn button. Both wires should be inside the steering wheel adapter when you're done so that they aren't exposed.

hmm... theres no wire for the horn button in the hub..it has to run outside the hub unless I drilled a hole or something in the hub. the ground is a ground ring that is attached to the hub and the ring.

That seems a bit strange. If I have time tonight, I'll take my wheel off my track car and see where my wire comes through from.

bump...I would like to get the horn hooked up before I have to go back to college. So far the consensus is fix the ground (since momo's ring doesn't work) and thats about it....where do you run the wire for the horn button? Just to clear things up I took apart the old wheel and took out the wire for the airbag/horn and thats the wire i'm trying to use...since one of the two wires in the connector is for the horn
