I really like the M weighted shift knob, which is basically like a stock E36 M3 knob with the weight of a ZHP knob.
I HATE the feel of the short knobs.

The only downside is that I don't think there is a 5spd version. Luckily not an issue for me.
ZHP or Illuminated knob?

I have a zhp in my car and a customer just shipped me an e46 M3 one piece boot, the illuminated knob is about the same diameter but about a half inch taller I think. I can post a side by side pic if there's interestLeave a comment:

I think if you have big hands, the zhp can be a tad small. The illuminated knob featured in the OP feels slightly larger and taller.Leave a comment:

My favorite knob of all time was my one piece lighted knob. Felt so good in my hand. I have a zhp now and it's good but not as good for me.Leave a comment:

I enjoyed my lighted knob. It broke and I honestly missed it. It compliments the window switches.
A weighted know supposedly helps with shifts. Like the big metal knobs some places sell.Leave a comment:

I'd go with the illuminated knob. Looks really cool at night.
I don't get why people like "weighted" knobs. I like it to be as light as possible. Gives better feel IMO.Leave a comment:

i dont know the illuminated knobs have more bling but the ZHP is just a really nice knob its has a nice weight in your hand, is about the perfect size and and has a nice feel to itLeave a comment:

It's all aesthetics. It looks nice at night. Just depends on how much you want to pay for that feature. BTW, standard zhp knobs are like $50-55 shipped from certain places.Leave a comment:

What's the big deal about illuminated knobs? If you don't know where the gears are by now...Leave a comment:

The illuminated and ZHP are both $87.95 on BavAuto and I was able to find the illuminated ZHP for 135 on leatherz.comLeave a comment:

I have both but I really like the illuminated knob. It goes nicely with the interior. Day or night. The Zhp is weighted and short but isn't illuminated. The illuminated Zhp is the best of both worlds but a lot more expensive. The Zhp also feels smaller in my hand while the traditional illuminated knob feels perfect. Hard to choose one over the other, just depends what you like. What I call the traditional illuminated knob is the oval knob like in the mz3 coupe.Leave a comment:

Yeah it's only like $175 for the illuminated ZHP knob, or the $100 version which IIRC is kinda crap.Leave a comment:
