Help taking apart and fixing driver's seat

So I am now in the process of disassembling my seat, and I have come to a part that is not well described in other DIY lists. When taking the cable that allows you to recline forward out, there is a little plastic clip between the end of the cable with the stopper on it and the end that runs up the seat. The picture should show you what I mean. Can anyone tell me how to get this thing out? I thought it would just slide out, but there are other things stopping me from doing that. I don't want to break it, as it is a small piece, and don't want to have to look for a substitute.

Also, if you could clue me in on what my specific problem may be, that would help even more. The seat won't sit straight, and wobbles around. But it only does it on one side. There's obviously something broken, and it seems to be the joint between the seat back and the bottom. However, I have no clue what the specific problem is, and have just been poking around, looking at what's broken. I haven't found anything yet, but if you know what it is, feel free to let me know! By the way, I don't thing it is the worn, rusty "claw" problem that I have heard so much about, judging from how the seat acts. But it may be. I'm new to this.

Its not difficult but not quite that easy either.

You can see in the pic that the white plastic sleeve has a lock tab at the top center. There is an identical tab on the other side that locks in to the metal backing plate holding it in place. To remove it you need to first take the "not this" metal tab off which involves just prying the lock tab up and lifting it up and over the post as you pull on the wire. If you just pry the plastic sleeve from the bottom without helping the lock tab get free, it will break.

Removing the plastic sleeve is a 2 handed 2 screwdriver job. You need to slip a very small screwdriver between the sleeve and the metal backing plate so you can release the lock tab. However, the plastic is extremely brittle so before you do that take a std flat screwdriver and place it at the bottom of the sleeve so as you turn it it will pry up on the sleeve by pressing against the indent in the metal frame. Do this gently as you very gently press the small driver between the sleeve and back plate. This way you are only flexing the sleeve as little as possible to get the tab to pop free. Once thats done the other screw driver will push it up far enough for you to remove it by hand.

As for your wobbles, most of the time the gear teeth get gummed (rather than stripped) so it may just be locking on one side. When you have the hinge off blow it clear as best you can with compressed air then use some degreaser trying not to get it on the plastic handle. The release pins where the spring attaches also get sluggish so clean and work them free then apply a bit of white lithium.
