what's needed to install an analog clock?

I'm getting an analog clock to install in place of my deluxe OBC, so I need to know what's involved/need to install it and have it work properly. Thanks.

Harness from one with an analog clock. OR the harness from a 2button OBC car. Just the harness that hooks to it, not an entire harness for the car lol

Will that part of the harness need to be spliced in, or does it plug into the existing harness somewhere?

Spliced in as far as I know. I was originally going to do that from a 6button but decided against it cus I like knowing what the temperature is. So all the info I know is from what I have read.

My temp sensor hasn't worked right since I bought the car, and I don't ever use any of the other functions except for the range feature, and I rarely use that anymore except on long drives, but I can do without it. It's just too many buttons and clutter, I like more of a clean, minimal feel in my interior.

when doing this, I know that the colors for the analog clock and power side mirrors have dif color wires, but as long as I match the positions of both harnesses and attatch to clock and it works?

If you do a search, you will find a few threads on this topic (one not even a month old).

You just need to splice the 4 wire connector into the harness of your OBC. There are markings on the back of the clock identifying each of the 4 wires. The markings are as follows:

30 ----- power
31 ----- ground
58k ---- power for light
31g ---- ground for light

you can figure out which wire goes where if you look at the wiring diagram in the bentley manual.

When wiring power/ground to the clock itself (not the light, It's the plug labeled "30"), When you turn the car off, will it keep the time? I dont understand what happens when you cut the power to it. I would think that it loses the time....On the other hand, i dont want it to drain the battery if it constantly needs 12V to it. It's kinda like a catch 22. Sooo which power would you hook it up to.

I was going to get an analog clock too... though I have the two button digital clock already...so I've already got the harness. Am I exempt from worrying about this battery draining problem? I mean, I know that it really doesn't take much power to run an analog clock, and keeping in mind, the Germans thought this up...but I'm curious. Thanks

watches run for years on those tiny little batteries, I wouldn't think you should worry about the clock draining your battery too much.
