I have a set of cloth sport seats that desperately need to be reupholstered, and a set of comfort seats that are in overall pretty good condition. Is it possible to use the fabric from a set of comfort seats to cover sport seats, or would the sport seat need a little more cloth since the center is its own piece? Has anyone done this? I would have an upholstery shop do the work.

Will fabric from a comfort seat fit a sport seat?

Don't waste your time trying to do that.
Your only options are to find replacement bolsters, or buying additional sport seats and swap all of the bolsters until you have a mint set (that's what I had to do). Or find OEM material and get them made, or have a re-upholstery dude make some custom fabric bolsters if you don't mind using non-oem shit.sigpic

It's the butt piece and the back piece that are completely shredded. What I'm wondering, is since those two pads are their own pieces, would/should they be able to be covered with the fabric from the middle of a cloth seat, or will it not fit tightly because of the difference in shape?
Oh, I see now.
I wouldn't know, But I would definitely think one could find a way to make that work. Just take apart the sport seat and get those two mid-sections out, then get the cloth from the comfort seat and stretch if over the foam until its nice and firm. I'm sure you'll be trimming some excess off. Or try to make a template with the comfort seat material from the junked sport seat material, that should work.
Perhaps you could post a pic...sigpic

The problem is that the sport seats center and bolsters each are wrapped on 3 sides with material whereas the comfort seat has the center section sewn directly to the bolsters. You simple do not have enough fabric in the center or bolsters of a comfort seat to wrap the cushion of a sport seat.Seat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch.
