    upholstery tips?

So i have a couple of weeks off and decided i'd take on a winter project....something i have never thought of doing before......sewing

my convertible's interior is/was shot, just like all the rest. there isn't a salvageable panel, so buying panels or just having some of them done was out of the question.finding a good vert interior is almost impossible and i'm cheap

Anyway, here is the first bolster i've tried. I dont think this will be the final fabric i'll be using but i'd like to use something like it, kinda like alecantera but softer and (alot) cheaper. the centers i'd like to do tan vinyl.

and i havent done the french stitching yet but i'll be using a twin needle, oh and i havent been using a walking foot

Looks pretty good. Is the suede you're using rated for UV exposure?

IMHO, unless you're wrapping something real alacantara isn't required. Most automotive suedes look the same.

FYI, Alcantara is just a brand name for fake suede. Just like Kleenex or Jello.

Alacantara has a product called Macrosuede that stretches like no other faux suede. IIRC it'll go almost 2x normal size without the look/feel of the surface changing.

IMHO, paying for the name is only worth it when you're wrapping panels and stuff. For seats, any auto grade suede will be just fine.
