I picked up a set of E30 M3 fronts the other day. Neither will recline. Not sure what the deal is. The handle actuates just fine, but it obviously isn't doing anything.

It's a pretty simple system. First I'd removed the plastic covers over the pivot and make sure the linkage is actuating.
It'd really be best to give all that stuff a good cleaning and regrease it with something like white lithium grease.

Both covers came off on both seats to fix a folding forward issue (one cable came off on each side,) so while I was in there, I actuated the handle to make sure the linkage wasn't binding up, and it moved freely.'72 2002 | '88 M5 | '89 330is | '89 M3 | '95 911 | '02 M5 | '04 RR HSE
